Report: Ghost Of Yōtei Developer Sucker Punch Hit With Layoffs
Sucker Punch, the team behind Ghost of Yōtei, Ghost of Tsushima, Infamous, and Sly Cooper, has been hit with layoffs, according to a report by Aftermath. The outlet states that 26 roles have been affected as the studio prepares its next project.
Aftermath cites a former Sucker Punch employee who confirmed the number of layoffs. The outlet also obtained a company email announcing the staff cuts.
“After carefully observing the challenges in the market and reviewing the team needs for our next project, we've decided to make some staffing reductions. Several positions across Sucker Punch will be eliminated as a result,” reads a section of the email. Sucker Punch then says it will work to support affected staff in their transition and will share more details next week about what comes next. The studio has not yet publicly commented on the layoffs.
This news comes a few weeks after the release of the Complete Edition of Ghost of Yōtei, which originally launched in 2025 to critical and commercial success. The release coincided with the arrival of two substantial DLCs: the story expansion Echoes of Sekigahara and a roguelike mode called Most Wanted that reintroduces Ghost of Tsushima hero Jin Sakai as a playable character.
